“Our whānau (10 adults + 2 kids) absolutely loved our stay at The Nelson. While the weather could have been better, the accommodation was warm, clean, relaxing and had everything we needed. Every day was spent in the heated pool and the spa (even in the drizzle) and in-between relaxing naps we took advantage of the games room. The host was accommodating and allowed us to check-in early and we couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommend. ”

“Our group had an amazing weekend stay at The Nelson! Such a wonderful holiday house, with everything you could want for a relaxing weekend away. We were a group of 13 adults and there was plenty of space for everyone, comfortable beds, multiple living and dining areas and plenty of bathrooms. The pool and spa were fantastic, perfect temperatures, and very well used during our stay. The whole place was clean, tidy and well maintained. Claire was a great host and very welcoming! It was handy to have her there for check in and check out and just made the whole process easy. We'd love to stay again!”

“Our stay at the Nelson was great. The house had heaps of room and the heated pool and spa pool were great. The house itself had everything we needed. Lots of space to chill out. While we were aware the owner lived on site, she was away the weekend so we didn't meet her until our last night. She did come to the house on our last morning to collect towels, water plants etc which was a bit off-putting. Just thought she should have waited until we left which was before the 10am check out time. ”

“We had an incredible long weekend, ladies retreat at this house (8 of us). The house is perfect for such a large group, the outdoor area is just magic for sipping wine, chats, nibbles and dipping in and out of the pool and spa. The walk to Onetangi beach is only about 20-25 mins. We just ordered a minivan cab to get us around to vineyards for lunches and to and from the ferry (cost us ~$50 one way journey to/from the ferry). The owner was onsite in a little studio underneath the kitchen area but was super chilled about us and the use of the house. We didn't even see her, she also kindly let us stay on longer on our check out day as the COVID lockdown came into effect and put a spanner in some of our plans. Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful home. ”

“A fantastic house - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, an easy (if hilly!) walk to the beach - great facilities and views out over the water. Would highly recommend it to similar large groups. The layout of the rooms and number of bathrooms enables easy separation for different activities (and differing bedtimes). The pool was very popular in the hot sun and is well maintained and the kitchen facilities with the extra fridge were fantastic. The owner on site was lovely to deal with and very helpful without being intrusive. ”

Excluding linen and cleaning 15 guests staying 3 nights equates to $43.55 per person per night which I feel represents very good value for money given the costs of running such a large property.”

“Being a group of 12 we chose The Nelson as it has six double bedrooms. We were warmly greeted by Claire and shown around finding all the bedrooms comfortable and the house clean and tidy. We particularly enjoyed having the large dining table to sit around and chat. Being winter we were also able to enjoy the spa. We would recommend The Nelson as an ideal venue for those wanting to share time with friends.”

“Spa had a extremely high usage 14+ guests here. Spa was very clear when guests arrived Thursday afternoon. I gave it a shock dose Saturday afternoon. After heavy usage spa has been cleaned, drained and fresh water. Guests used swimming pool during winter close out period so it was not cleaned and ready for use. Site advises pool is not heated and available to use until Labour weekend. Glad they enjoyed their stay. Cheers Claire”

“great place to stay in general however do note that the owner resides at the property and does pop up to the property - during our stay she came up into the part we were staying in to turn the lights off outdoors which we left on, cover the spa pool, clean the swimming pool, water plants etc, so not complete privacy if that's what you're after”
