Review by Konika (Stayed in March)

Wow, what can I say.
My family and I had an amazing time.
The house was in a nice quiet area and it was safe for our children. The house catered for our kids and they toys inside and outside that they use and play with.
Enough room for all 8 of us. Bedroom’s and bedding were great didn’t need to worry about anything beside relaxing and having a wonderful time.
Would love to go back and stay again possibly longer next time.
The beach was a two minute walk away and it was so lovely.

Review by Andrew (Stayed in January)

Overall really enjoyed the house, great location and easy walk to the beach. Kitchen had everything we needed and particularly liked the outdoor shower. Text message notification and lock box system for accessing the key worked great and was very easy. All communication in regards to our initial booking as well as the changes we made to our booking at short notice was all very efficient, easy and professional.

A couple of suggestions for improvement:

On the back veranda, off the living room, there is a support post on the right-hand corner which appears to be starting to rot and may pose some structural issues. This may need to be inspected by someone.

The rubbish and recycling situation was a little unclear. The rubbish truck came on Wednesday, and we had only arrived on Tuesday, therefore we didn't have anything to be collected at that particular time (which was fine.) However, the information booklet at the house implies that any rubbish which isn't collected by the truck should be taken to the public waste/recycling skips, which was a problem for us because we did not have our own transport on the island (and we didn't think it was appropriate to take rubbish bags on the public transport.) The information booklet also suggests that all recycling should be bagged in separate "supermarket" bags, which is problematic because the supermarkets no longer provide plastic bags, which makes these quite hard to come by. We ended up bagging our rubbish in the provided red bag and managed to find some other white rubbish bags for our recycling, and left everything just outside the front door. I would suggest that the information booklet needs to be updated with clear instructions around which bags to be used for recycling and how rubbish should be managed by guests who are departing before the public rubbish collection day (taking into account that not all guests have their own transport.)

Owner/Manager responds:

thank you for your feedback Andrew and we're so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Barefoot by the Beach! I'm sorry there was difficulty regarding the rubbish and recycling. We agree that the rubbish collection system really is not fabulous for a holiday island! The property owner is having the post on the veranda looked into this week and is also having the rubbish info updated. The owner has already ordered the Council wheeled rubbish and recylcing bins for the property today, based on your feedback, and they should be in place within 3 weeks. So again, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback and I hope we can help you again next time you visit Waiheke. :-)

Review by Margaret (Stayed in September)

We stayed over the school holiday as a family trip away from home (Auckland City). The bach was just what we asked for and more. The accommodation was clean. It is in a perfect location to the beach, park and very centre to the Waiheke island activities, walks and food and drink. The bach was perfect for the kids and for the adults. The boys loved the outdoor toilet :-). Would recommend to anyone going to the Island for a break with kids!!! Will be back!!!
