Whakanewha Regional Park This beautiful park is located just around the point from Rocky Bay and 6 or 7 mins drive from Ostend. Peace and quiet abound. Enjoy wonderful bush walks, including those to the Cascade Falls and Maori Point. Take a picnic and enjoy spectacular views, all the way to Sky Tower and One Tree Hill in Auckland, from the picnic table set beneath the gigantic Pohutukawa Tree. New Zealand’s native Dottrels (an endangered bird species) nest here. At mid ?high tide the swimming here is truly beautiful! Crystal clear water and hardly a soul around!
